God is the simple answer to the unanswerable question: Why is there something rather than nothing? In my view, God is without a doubt, European. S/he may have made their first appearance in the Middle East, but I am pretty sure s/he now resides somewhere in the Alpine Massive; a chain of mountains that stretches across the heart of our Europe like a sleeping Buddha.
Poet’s know more about God than scientists do. This is so obvious it barely needs stating. Sometime, not so long ago, most likely on a Tuesday afternoon, we forgot who we are. We built a Large Particle Collider and looked deep into the heart of the fabric of reality. Most of us were disappointed. Life is that thing you bump into when you close your eyes and walk forward. It’s as real as the Aunt who moved to Australia when you were five, and you haven’t heard of since. Who would place their Aunt in a particle accelerator, send her spinning at speeds close to the speed of light, crashing her into impenetrable walls of electrons, in the hope of getting to know her better?
Scientists are of course, on the whole, clever people. Without their work we would not have the world we enjoy today. And we do enjoy the world. Particularly in Europe; where God lives.
This website is also a personal project. It is an attempt to answer once and for all, the question: Why is there something rather than nothing and whereabouts in Europe, does that something live? I have of course, ideas concerning the direction I am going to follow in my exploration of the issues that will inevitably arise from such a question. I do hope you will be able to join me for most of the journey. Atheists I believe, wear heavy boots and move sluggishly towards a certain future. We will wear soft-shoes as we travel; we will rest on the grass and watch the sun move from one side of the sky to the other.
